The information age is dead.
There I said it.
Once upon a time, you had to go to the library, encyclopedias, specialty journals, etc., to find information. Then we transitioned into the information age – all of that could be found on the internet (can you say, “Google is my friend”?). We have left the information age and transitioned into the “I have a mobile device” age. With the advent of mobile apps, that are available on your mobile device that goes with you everywhere you go, you no longer have to look for information, it is with you wherever you are.
Mobile is the new Internet.
Whenever one of your clients download your Mobile App or whenever some one visits your website and discovers that your business offers a Mobile App for them to download, it is a signal that you, as a business owner, or service provider, are willing to invest your time and money to give them what “they” want - comfort and convenience. Because you do realize, don’t you, that it isn’t about you, your business, or bottom line – it is about what your clients, or potential clients want and need. You give them what they want, and you will have all the business you can handle.
When you offer your clients, and business partners a Mobile App design with them in mind, you are saying you want them to be with you and you want to be with them…yes it is selling, yes, it is marketing…but it is marketing that exponentially enhances customer loyalty and invites them to be your partner in spreading the word about your products and services. You do realize, don’t you, that today’s clients want to, nay, live to “share” what they use or like (if you don’t believe me, look on any social media page at the likes and shares that are there). And to top it all off, it is much easier, and thus more memorable to say “Download Our App” than it is to give out a Web address, or email address. K.I.S.S.!
Where The Rubber Meets The Road
As a business owner, why do you need a mobile app?
1. Mobile Apps allow you to provide better service to your existing client base.
You have (or should have) daily or weekly messages that would inspire and benefit your clients; especially if you are a minister, motivational speaker, coach, teacher or educator… Your clients benefit from privacy and your personal attention
You have special offers or limited time offers and that you need to share with your clients and partners in as quick a manner as possible; especially if you run a restaurant, a clothing shop, a flower shop, a hair salon, etc., …your clients benefit from your provided convenience and personal attention
There are frequent and/or constant changes in business information that needs to be communicated “real time”, especially if you are an attorney, a tax or financial adviser, a realtor, etc., …your clients look to you to provide what they need when they need it – now
You are constantly providing new services, offering new products, etc., to your clients, especially if you work in the entertainment field, sports and recreation, food, or fitness industries
2. Having your own Mobile App allows you to gain new clients, locally, trans-locally, and around the globe
Look around you, every where you look... your clients, customers, members, and business partners are increasingly using their smart devices more and more to do more and more; they desire to communicate with you (and for you) in the most convenient way possible – via their mobile devices. The latest stats show that mobile smart device users enjoy searching for information, products and services as they walk through the mall, the market or the door of a business. Read that last line again. Get it? No more waiting to get home to sit in front of a PC, laptop, or notebook to look stuff up.
Remember (back-in-the-good-old-days) when you entered your favorite place of business and were greeted by a smiling, friendly "staffer" at the door saying something like, “Is there anything I can help you with today?“ What happened to those “greeters”? They have been replaced by something shoppers want and enjoy much more – let me introduce you to the Mobile App. Yes, it is true, the shoppers of today would rather get their “help” from Mobile Apps on their mobile devices as they walk around through shopping areas to look for, and select, the best deals. Using the Geo-fencing functionality in your Mobile App, you can send them a “lookie. lookie” signal when they are in your vicinity to alert them and attract them to you and away from your competitors. It works.
What The Heck Does “Viral” Really Mean Anyway?
The term Viral comes from the word “virus,” which is a medical term describing a small infectious agent that can infect all types of organisms. In reference to the Internet, a piece of content or information can spread, like a virus, if people become “infected” when they see it. Get it? A social infection occurs when someone comes in contact with a piece of content or information designed to evoke positive emotions that spur the “infected” one share it, so they can relate, or “share” with other people and discuss how they feel.
Stop and think about it for a moment. When you share something online (you know that you do), the reason you share it is because in some way it “moved”, emotionally. No one shares because they know something – no, they share because they “feel” something. So, if something makes you sad, happy, angry, surprised, disgusted, or anything else—what do you do? You share it. Why? Because you want other people to share those “feelings” with you.
Usually, when people think about the term “viral,” they usually think of viral videos. But videos are only one form of content that can go viral. Truthfully, anything, and everything has the potential to go viral via the Internet. It doesn’t matter if it’s a picture, a cartoon, a news article, an inspirational quote, a tweet, a person, an animal, an idea, an argument, a coupon, a coupon, a coupon, I said, a coupon, an event or anything else—if it can be shared in such a way to move someone emotionally, it has the power to go viral - if it appeals enough to the masses and is shareable.
