I have been warning folk for the last two years about the fact that our friend Google was planning to change the rules that everyone has to play by. Back in the 90’s it was the internet and having a website. One day you were fine, you were successful, making money…then the next day the internet had taken over and only those who leveraged websites and online marketing strategies were successful.
Now we are in 2015 and it is happening again. Google, the largest mobile search and mobile platform provider has announced that as of April 21, 2015, any website, landing page, etc., that isn’;t mobile optimized (that means it must fit a mobile device’s screen) and mobile friendly (that means you must be able to read it and “easily” maneuver around on the mobile screen without “pinching,” “squeezing,” and “sliding.:
If you are part of the majority of entrepreneurs, small business owners, or non-profits that have been holding back, the time to jump is upon us. If your online activity isn’t mobile friendly, be warned, you may see some negative results related to your ranking before it is over and done. Please do not ignore Google’s advanced warning – they are as serious as a heart attack about this.
If your site(s) aren’t mobile friendly, here is my advice:
Quickly, hire a “qualified” webmaster (qualified usually means they aren’t a family member or friend), and get them started on updating your site.). If your marketing strategy doesn’t include a customized mobile app, start developing one today.
Today, Google reigns supreme, the two largest search engines on the planet are Google’s (Google search and YouTube). Already, over ½ of all Google related searches are performed from a mobile device, and Google isn’t satisfied, they want more! This new initiative is designed by Google to make and maintain mobile as the core of everything. Don’t wait. Go Mobile!
